The first Irish Energy Cone Technique practitioner
training was held in St. Raphaela's in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday
14th and Sunday 15th April, 2007. This was only the second ever
Energy Cone Technique (ECT) practitioner training to be held in
the world, the first being held in Amsterdam in February 2007.
Many of the group of 20 trainees had previously trained with Sally
Canning for Emotrance on her earlier visits to Ireland, and we were
all looking forward to learning a brand new energy psychology technique
with her and the originator of the technique, Tom Wynn.

Tom Wynn explaining how trauma
is encoded into the body. |
Energy Cone Technique is the admitted passion of Tom
Wynn, a 75 years-young Irishman with a roguish twinkle in his
eyes! The first Irish ECT training weekend was a synergistic partnership
between Tom and Sally
Canning.
On the first morning of training, Tom's charismatic style shone
through his presentation about the development of ECT and how trauma
is encoded and held within the body. He explained how accessing
energy cones, or cysts, in the palm can bring up feelings in the
body which can then be identified and moved through and out of the
body, leading to a release of the accompanying emotions.
The Emotrance
technique can be used to soften the energy and flow it through the
meridians and out of the body, enabling relief for the client, often
immediately.
|
Illustrative slides helped to clarify Tom's explanations and
he also shared with us his views on life's journey.
Tom explained that 20% of all sensitivity in the body is in the
hands, and that is why the palms are mainly used to access the emotional
energy. However, any area of the skin can be used. Once you touch
the skin, hair or clothing, the brain must respond.
Energy Cone Technique (ECT)can be used for both physical and emotional
problems.
Tom gave us 3 demonstrations of ECT with volunteers. We learned
that an ECT session can be conducted either with or without the
conscious knowledge of the content of the trauma or negative emotion,
by either client or practitioner. |

There were many many thoughtful touches on this training, including
vases of flowers on each table and around the room. Sally Canning's
teaching technique demonstrated an ideal balance of clear and informative
instruction, hands-on practice with support and also feedback and
question time.
The trainee practitioners undertook several sessions of one to
one practice with ECT, both with and without conscious knowledge
of the root cause of the problem.
During the ECT practices, Sally and Tom moved from group to group,
giving advice and support during the process.
|
All the participants were able to succesfully identify and feel
the energy cone and follow its movement across the palm. The cone
seemed to travel across the palm whilst energy was felt in or moving
through the body and then abruptly erupt and/or flatten when the
energy was released from the body.
When one energy cone subsides, another may be felt almost, but
not quite in the same place, which indicates that something else
has come up, and further work can be done.
We also learned that scars, moles or marks on the skin can be used
as a gateway for accessing trauma held in the body, and methods
for speedily accessing the root cause connected to the feelings
accessed in the body by the energy cone.

In the morning of the second day of training Tom explained the
cranio-sacral thythm, a subtle pulsing or swinging movement which
can be felt in our own or other's body.
When the body is comfortable the rhythm is present, but when the
body senses a problem the rhythm becomes ragged or stops altogether,
then re-starts when the problem has been addressed and the energy
of the trauma has been syphoned off. Sensing or feeling the cranio-sacral
rhythm gives the practitioner another useful tool.
Sally gave a demonstration of muscle testing and taught methods of balancing the body before testing to further validate client response. |
The wonderfully supportive and gentle energy emanating from all
participants on the Energy Cone Practitioner training course created
a safe and nurturing environment.
Many of the trainees (including the writer) were able to access
and release some deep and long standing traumas using the Energy
Cone Technique, much of which it had not been previously possible
to gain access on such a profound level.
The synergy of the Energy Cone Technique and Emotrance is wonderful,
using ECT to first gain access to client's problemss, even those
innermost and longest held traumas. Then using Emotrance to soften,
flow and move the often long blocked energy through and out of the
body, bringing lasting relief for the client. |

This report was written by Helen Ryle, who runs a Hypnotherapy and Meridian Energy Therapies practice in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Helen can be contacted through her website at www.hypnotherapyireland.net. |
Our special thanks went to Sr. Rachel for her kindness and hospitality,
and she also joined us for the second day of the course. We were
all very pleased with the quality of the training course and proud
to be amongst the first practitioners in the world of this new and
important addition to energy psychology.
Energy Cone Technique is a welcome addition to the toolbox of any
complementary therapist - meridian therapies practitioners, hypnotherapists,
reiki practitioners, kinesiologists and reflexologists can all incorporate
the technique into their work. It can be used as a standalone technique
or alongside any modality which seeks to find and release the root
cause of a client's presenting symptom or problem.
